Today included a lot of screaming, not by me, but by the little man. If I’m going to keep it real on this blog and try to give a true life account of my life as a stay at home mom, well then it must be said. Drew is only 3 months so his day and schedule is still slightly unpredictable. Some days we have it down pat and the day runs like clockwork other days, like today, we’re just off. I was always just a beat late on when he wanted his bottle and let me tell you, he is not shy about letting me know!
A little screaming here and there never hurt anyone’s day! We still got a lot done. We went to Stroller Strides at 9AM – I was able to do about half the class – Drew needed a bottle about midway through (bottle number 1 that I had misjudged) so I had to take some time out to feed him. It was still a good workout and I got to see some of my mom friends which is always nice. I plan on doing a whole post on Stroller Strides soon (what is it, what do you do, do you like it, etc.) So I’ll explain it all then.
Then it was home for some playtime before heading off to Drew’s 3 month check-up. His stats are:
Length – 24.5 inches (he grew 2.25 inches since his 2 month check-up)
Weight – 12 pounds and 11 ounces (he gained 1 pound 8 ounces since his 2 month check-up)
The doctor was pleased with his growth and said he’s following right along his growth curve so that made me happy. He had to get a vaccination (2nd round of Hep B) so more screaming ensued. Home for nap time, bottle and lots more playing. Then we met up with our friends Jamie and her baby James at the local park and went for a 45 minute walk – trying to soak up everyday that the weather is nice. We stopped of at my parents house on the way home for the 2nd bottle of the day that I misjudged and then it was bed time (the 3rd bottle of the day that I misjudged was his last bottle right before bed).
I’m super nervous tonight as we have begun the de-swaddling process. Drew loves to be swaddled and so we have swaddled him every night and it totally helps him sleep. However, lately he’s been breaking out of his swaddle and he’s started rocking onto his side which has us nervous because if he were to roll over without having access to his hands that would be dangerous. In addition, our doctor wants us to start sleep training him (putting him to bed awake and letting him fall asleep on his own) and since he will not take a binki he needs to have access to his hands so he can suck on them. Sleep training is going to begin on Sunday so I’m beginning the de-swaddling process tonight so that the hands will be free by Sunday. Hopefully he will still sleep his 8-10 hours and that flailing arm won’t wake him up.
Below are my eats for the day – I had a good day (meaning I was able to eat three actual meals)! I’ll most likely enjoy some chocolate after dinner ![]()
I find it super helpful to visually see my meals after the day. I look at this and realize I needed more protein, more fruits and more veggies to be eaten today. One can always strive to do better!
Hopefully tomorrow Drew and I will be more in sync, but even if we’re not I enjoy every minute with my little man – screaming or no screaming – he’s just too cute!
Moms out there – any tips on de-swaddling a baby?

My son hated his hands swaddled from day 1 so we just swaddled from under the arms. I kept him like that until he started to crawl. My daughter phased herself out of it. She wasn’t ready when we started but I did move to the under the arms swaddle so she could still feel that coziness and she could easily move into her side. My advice is to go with your gut. Even if it doesn’t work this week, try next because they change a lot in even a week.

Lauren thanks for the advice! We’re on night 2 and so far so good he seems to be responding well. Cross our fingers because sleep training is next – eek!
