Typical Day as a SAHM

Today we had such a good day!  Except for the fact that I am having a difficult time remembering it is Tuesday and not Monday (i.e.: I totally forgot tonight was a bath night – whoops – we’ll make it up tomorrow.)

Last night we had friends over for dinner and Drew crashed early (i.e.: 6PM) and I said to Jon, “I bet he sleeps through the night but is up at 4AM.”  I was correct – he slept straight through but woke up at 4:30AM.  I don’t really mind the early wake-ups – he’s so fun and playful it’s hard to stay tired.  He was so loud though that I had to take him downstairs so he didn’t wake Jon up.  He played on his activity mat while I created my to-do list (which I titled Monday – lol) and got a couple of emails done and projects started.  Then I spent a good deal of time playing with the little man and reading him books before his first nap at 6:30AM.  That’s what happens when you wake up at 4:30 Smile

I held him (I know, I know) but when it’s that early it’s sometimes tough to put up a fight plus secretly I love our snuggle time.  During his nap I watched Hart of Dixie, not much you can do when you’re holding a baby for 90 minutes.  Then it was bottle time followed by crib playtime so I could make the bed and shower.  After I was ready I got Drew dressed for the day and we danced and sang to music.  During his 2nd nap I put him in the car seat and we ran errands (CVS, the bank, and to my parents house to collect their mail while they are away).

Then we had more playtime, another bottle and we got ready to head over to my high school friend, Katie’s house, to visit with her and her twin daughters.  We hung out there for 4 hours (during which Drew napped, ate a bottle, played and we all went for a walk where he napped again – though only for 15 minutes).  We had so much fun during our visit!

We came home had another bottle (he drinks 6 4-ounce bottles, I just cannot get him to drink more at one time) had some quiet playtime before we headed upstairs to start our bedtime routine.  Our bedtime routine consists of crib playtime (the mobile is where it is at folks), changing for bed and listening to music, reading books, having a bottle and then going to sleep.

After he went to bed I wound down watching my favorite show Castle until Jon came home and we had dinner.  Then I folded laundry, wrote some thank you notes, and am currently blogging.  I’ll probably read a little bit after this and then hit the hay early because since he went to bed around 6PM again tonight I have a feeling I’ll be up early.

I’m sure I didn’t mention every single little thing I did today (like the fact that I did eat three meals and did my #plankaday) but you get the gist of what a typical day in the life of this sahm is like.
